Today on the GIVE Podcast we are thrilled to welcome Cindy Eggleton, the co-founder, and CEO of Brilliant Detroit. Brilliant Detroit is a community impact organization that has helped over 6500 people since it was founded four years ago. It is a unique and unbelievably successful nonprofit that operates (for the moment) exclusively in 4 of Detroit’s neighborhoods.
Detroit has faced incredible hardships over the years. The people who live there, and the children who grow up there are statistically tested lower than the average American city. Brilliant Detroit is focused on building the communities in Detroit to help sustain not just individual growth, but everyone that lives there. Once Brilliant Detroit comes into the neighborhood, they are there to stay and help everyone there.
Brilliant Detroit is working to change the fundamentals of these communities and work with them to empower change within themselves. They purchase run-down houses within the neighborhood and turn them into thriving community centers. From nightly dinners to GED classes, their reach is anything but narrow.
